Joy Killers, Church Killers - Joy Unshakeable (Andrew East)

In "Joy Killers, Church Killers," the third message of the Joy Unshakeable series, Pastor Andrew addresses the practical habits and attitudes that can either destroy or strengthen Christian unity and joy. Drawing from Philippians 2:12–30 and 4:1–3, he emphasises that believers must move beyond simply admiring Jesus to actively following Him and embodying His humble mindset in everyday life. Andrew explains that "working out" salvation means allowing God’s active, inner grace to transform relationships and actions, highlighting three concrete ways to live this out: rejecting grumbling and complaining to "shine like stars" in a dark world, serving others generously and selflessly as modelled by Timothy and Epaphroditus, and actively pursuing reconciliation and peace when interpersonal conflict arises. Ultimately, he challenges the congregation to invite the Holy Spirit to root out negativity and division, ensuring that the love and grace of Christ visibly shine through the church community.
