Where's The Joy? - Joy Unshakeable (Andrew East)

In "Where's The Joy?" the opening message of the Joy Unshakeable series on Philippians, Pastor Andrew addresses how easily we lose our joy when we fall into the trap of "if only" thinking—assuming our circumstances must be perfect before we can be truly content. Drawing from Philippians 1, he demonstrates how Paul could write the New Testament's most joyful letter while locked in a prison cell because his joy flowed directly from God's grace and peace rather than favourable conditions. Andrew outlines three core reasons we can choose joy regardless of our situation: recognising that God is faithfully at work completing the good work He began in His people, trusting that God advances His purposes through our difficult circumstances, and keeping Jesus as the absolute centre of our lives so that nothing can derail our core purpose. Ultimately, and especially as an encouragement on Father's Day, he challenges us to evaluate what we put at the centre of our lives—declaring, like Paul, that "to live is Christ"—so that a deep, divine joy can anchor us even when life doesn't go according to plan.
