Empowered To Serve: Discovering Spiritual Gifts - S.H.A.P.E. Series (Grant Watts)

In this third message of the "SHAPE" series, Grant explores the how of Christian service, focusing on the divine power brought by the Holy Spirit through spiritual gifts. He clarifies that while our passions address the where and our abilities/personality shape the what, spiritual gifts represent God’s supernatural power working in and through us for a true kingdom impact. Grant unpacks common misconceptions, emphasising that spiritual gifts are distinct from natural talents, learned skills, or the fruit of the Spirit, and they are never a sign of spiritual superiority or automatic authority. Drawing on 1 Corinthians 12 and Ephesians 4, he highlights that these gifts are given unearned to build up the body of Christ, promote unity, and point glory back to God. Sharing his own journey from being a tradie to a teacher, Grant encourages everyone to discover their gifts—whether through church resources or feedback from others—and to actively deploy them rather than leaving God's gifts unopened on a shelf. Ultimately, he reminds us that we serve to imitate Jesus, who called us to follow His example of washing one another's feet.
